VACANCY: Construction Project Coordinator

Job Description

Nova Laboratories is actively expanding its site with multiple construction projects planned in the coming years. The candidate will be joining a small team, already responsible for the design of new facilities, to coordinate third party contractors to build our new facilities on time, in budget and to the highest standard. The candidate will also be expected to be directly involved in the construction of smaller projects and to assist with routine building maintenance tasks. Salary will be dependent on experience.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

• To liaise with the facility and equipment design team, building maintenance foreman and building systems development engineers to create budgets and timelines for new con-struction projects.
• To liaise with contractors, planning and building control and organise scheduling to keep projects on time.
• To review construction drawings and ensure work is as specified.
• To ensure the quality of construction projects is kept to the highest of standards, as de-termined by the Head of Engineering, and provide ‘hands-on’ practical assistance to con-tractors achieving this goal.
• To ensure oversight of construction projects as per the CDM duties of client when the site is F10 notifiable.
• To act as Health and Safety site supervisor for smaller projects and ensure all necessary permits and RAMS are completed.
• To aid the general Health and Safety Lead keep construction related actions in our TAM system current and up to date.
• To accommodate multiple live projects and changing requirements.

Additional Duties

• To be directly involved in the physical construction of smaller projects working alongside the building maintenance foreman and building systems development engineers.
• To be directly involved in routine building maintenance works.
• To be directly involved in the manufacture of some Nova designed equipment.
• To work according to SOPs, for example when undertaking maintenance in a controlled ar-ea.
• To complete construction and maintenance related actions in our Quality Management System.
• To attend to emergency call-outs for building maintenance.

Key Skills and Knowledge

• Thorough knowledge of construction site safety management.
• Wide working knowledge of construction techniques including, but not limited to:
o Reinforced concrete, with understanding of bar bending schedules, rebar drawings and concrete grades and finish.
o Excavation and backfilling.
o Brick and blockwork.
o Plumbing and underground drainage.
o Manhole and service trench construction.
o Steelwork.
o Studwork.
o Fencing.
• Competent in using power tools and machine tools.
• Competent in using email, Word and Excel and basic CAD packages.
• Qualification to operate forklift and other heavy plant equipment preferable.
• IPAF training preferable.
• Confined space training preferable.
• First aid training preferable.

• Qualification under an accredited site safety manager scheme.
• Qualification under an accredited construction skills certificate scheme.

Manufacturing and Projects Leader (Contract Manufacturing)

Reporting to the Operations Manager this is a leadership role to meet the ongoing high demand for sterile fill finish from our client base.  This will involve overseeing the manufacture of sterile liquids, spray dried powder and a range of medical devices, in addition to aseptic spray drying and live viral vector fill finish campaigns.  This is a high profile role and support will be given to develop the leadership skills of the successful candidate. 
You will act as a lead contact for customers, ensuring the on time, right first time delivery of manufactured products and will also lead staff development and training.  You will need to create, maintain and champion a culture of exceptional Quality and Regulatory compliance. 
You will provide technical and operational input to a number of technical projects.  You will identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure efficient technology transfer and scale up from development into manufacturing. 


• Science Graduate (Essential)
• Minimum 3 years Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Healthcare or FMCG laboratory experience (Essential)
• Strong Communication skills at all levels (Internal/ External) (Essential)
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines (Essential)
• Team Management Experience  (Essential)
• Strong Decision making skills
• Proven project management skills including ability to plan, track and deliver complex work programs.  (Essential)
• Ability to develop and author SOPs, Batch records and technical reports.  (Desirable)
• Proven Experience in Customer/Supplier relations.  (Essential)
• Must be able to work extended/ flexible hours as required.
